When you head for Hawaii, most people assume you’re going to spend your time on the Island of Hawaii, but Hawaii actually consists of hundreds of islands over an area of about 1500 miles! However, most people only visit the eight largest islands of Hawaii. “The Island of Hawaii” refers to the largest island of Hawaii, sometimes called just Hawaii or Big Island Hawaii.

If you’re looking for Honolulu, you may assume the capital and largest city in Hawaii was located on the Island of Hawaii, but Honolulu has an entire island to itself: Oahu.
