Want to have a safe and enjoyable driving future - adopt PIP.

If you think personal injury protection isn't necessary then you really haven't been paying attention to the latest batch of accident statistics involving vehicles! Because accident’s main causes in these days are drinking habits; an alcoholism habit, but according to experts,  alcoholism is not a disease  but a behavior problem that has something to do with the childhood of an alcoholic.  Families require looking after as do the payments for mortgages etc. so if for no other reason than ensuring these are looked after, it has got to be worth it. Trying to get insurance cover though can be a real problem to many people as it is almost always very expensive in respect of the average family budget.

The situation can be made worse when the policy has not been researched carefully and does not insure everything it was intended to. Not every state has made this law yet but a few have although the amount of protection does vary considerably. If you live in a state where personal injury protection has not been made law yet, that does not mean you should wait until it is!

Depending on the policy, cover can pay up to eighty percent of costs involved for the insured and any passengers they were carrying at the time. As a no fault policy though, the plan pays for loss of earnings, medical expenses and various other costs for the policy holder and his passengers even if the insured was responsible for the situation. Items like the medical expenses and lost income are already part of a current health plan that is in force.

If this is the case, then you may need minimal amount of coverage or even none at all. Your driving record can also be a contributing factor when considering whether or not you actually require personal injury protection. Health insurance plans will often cover the main policy holder as the driver and providing the passengers are relatives, it will usually cover them as well if they are injured. Needless to say, if you find that the cover afforded by the personal injury protection is insufficient for passengers then you will have to top this cover up.

Remember, the safety of a passenger in your car is always going to be your responsibility. If you live in a state that does not have mandatory personal injury protection you may want to add this into your portfolio. This is one area where age and driving experience can be on the driver's side and insurance policy costs can be lowered. Irrespective of your personal situation, thorough research in this complicated area is a necessity if you want to have a safe and enjoyable driving future without financial worries if something untoward happens.
