The main thing that I wish to see from a contractor is an accurate construction estimate. It may be too much for me to expect to get exact estimates but at least I hope to see a construction estimate that is not far from reality. New contractors often fall into the trap of offering low estimates just to get the project. This often means losses for the new contractor. The contractor with a low estimate may be tempted to fit in everything in the budget, even when that is not possible.
