Last night,my wife and I attended a retirement party for a good friend of the family.

 

It was a great time celebrating the career of a fine gentleman.

 

During one of the conversations with a mutual friend, he told me how odd it was that both father and son would be retiring at the same time.

 

“How is that?” I asked.

 

“I guess you haven’t heard the story then?” he said.

 

“No, I haven’t,” I replied.

 

“It’s really sad, he lamented, getting injured on the job the way he did. Fortunately, his Social Security Appeal came through and he’ll be able to partially pay his expenses.

 

After hearing the whole story how he fell off a roof and broke his back, I realized how fragile life can be.
