Simple 5th Grade Projects

For simple 5th grade science fair projects, students can use a simple glass jar in place of an actual rock.  The jar should be filled to the brim with water and tightly screwed shut.  This jar should be placed in the freezer.  The glass will crack due to the water's expansion when frozen.  Caution is recommended in performing this experiment, however.
