A critical avenue to take in establishing sound knowledge management is to mine your data—discover the needles in your haystack and eliminate them, make comparisons between different products, different implementations used to solve a problem, effectiveness of two different methods.  Use as many angles as possible in looking at your facts and information and try several options.  Using knowledge management, you can sort existing information by date, time, order size, profitability, product sales, and so forth.  Figure out how much valuable information you have and how and where it can be used to improve the knowledge management process in your business.
