At this very moment there is something that was happening in the poditary that is very controversial. In diagnosing and treating foot conditions podiatrists are expert to that. As part of that they use foot orthotics or supports. Podiatrists get taught how to manufacture foot orthotics as part of their training. But the majority of podiatrists do not manufacture them; they send a cast of the foot out to have them made by a laboratory. Universities and the profession of podiatry are debating the role of foot orthotic manufacture in the training programs for podiatrists. Opinions are divided. They noticeably need to know more something about the manufacturing process to understand about them, but how much is needed is where the debate is at.
